Put 3 chaps in a room, have them dress in a black suit and 5 things will distinguish them one from the other.
1. The fit
2. The element of style
3. The socks
4. The pocket square
5. The shoes
I’m a firm believer that the pocket square and socks are the strokes that make a blank canvas come to life.
I was first introduced to Falke socks (www.Falke.com) while at Pitti Immagine Uomo, in Florence, Italy. I’ll be the first to tell you that finding the right pair of socks is a matter of trial and error - All socks are not the same. I won’t tell you what socks to purchase (we don’t push product here) I will however encourage you to keep the canvas from being bland and tell you that Falke keeps the space between the bottom of your pants and shoes far from blank.
Because street style is more than just street photos… it’s about “the art of details”.

When the good people at John Varvatos throw a party they hold no punches, this time it was right in front of the world’s largest department store. Yesterday I had the chance to photograph the John Varvatos STAR USA fragrance tour bus outside of Macy’s Herald Square in New York City and must say it was great to see all the stylish people that stopped by.

What I liked about this event was that it was interactive. You could have a photo taken and e-mail it to yourself, the samples were in abundance, the in-store prizes were great (prizes included an iPod, Ticket Master or iTunes gift cards, or Bose headphone set).
A great touch was anyone who purchased a bottle had the opportunity to have the bottle engraved. Very nice touch I must say! Anyone who purchases a 3.4 fl. oz. of John Varvatos STAR USA during the event hours until May 5th will receive a FREE John Varvatos STAR USA monogrammed tote bag.
For those who came out it was great seeing you, for those who missed yesterday, you still have today (1pm - 5pm) and Saturday (2:30pm - 6:30pm).

For those who go, send me the photo taken there via e-mail and I may have a surprise for you… but hurry, all good things come to an end!

I’ll be visiting the John Varvatos STAR USA Fragrance Tour Bus as it makes its way around New York City this week. In preparation I decided to stop by one of their shops to look at the new collection as well as take a look and smell of the fragrances.
Afterwards I was able to snap one of the chaps from the shop (Edgar Avalos).
I will be at the John Varvatos Star USA Fragrance Tour Bus outside Macy’s Herald Square, New York City (34th street) on Thursday May 3rd, 2012 from 1pm to 5pm looking for great style - hope to see you there.

Style is not just about the clothes you wear, it’s also about what’s not seen.
A sneak peek inside the bag of Edgar Avalos who works at John Varvatos in NYC.
Pitti Uomo in Florence Italy is right around the corner & I have a few style treats in store…

I recently had the pleasure of shooting Mr. Wilcox of Lord Willy’s for my weekly feature on ‘The Daily Details’ for Details.com. Prior to photographing him, we had the chance to sit and converse on subjects ranging from style to the new Spring/Summer Collection at Lord Willy’s in New York City.
The first thing that stroke me about the shop was the venue itself. Just as meticulous as a bespoke suit everything was well selected from the overall decor to the placement of the collection. The tailoring speaks for itself, traditional English cuts with a hint of dandyism needs no hoopla just a link … www.LordWilly’s.com.
I have the opportunity to visit countless shops from off the rack to bespoke, I’ve come to realize each shop caters to a specific person / group / personality. In my mind Lord Willy’s is the perfect businessman’s upgrade place.
If you should be in the SOHO / NOLITA area in New York City, swing by and even if you don’t pick up a suit, shirt, tie, etc… you may be offered a beer and are guaranteed a treat for your sartorial eye.
